New Parents’ Guide

Welcome to Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County, a tuition-free classical charter school!

We are excited to have your family join our community and we look forward to providing your child a robust classical education that combines the pursuit of knowledge with the development of virtue.

This Parent’s Guide includes important information to prepare you and your child for a successful year at Ascent Classical Academy.

After Accepting an Offer

Once you have accepted an offer for your child, we will begin the process of transferring your child’s records and enrollment to Ascent Classical Academy.  You may receive a call or email from your child’s previous school to verify the transfer.  You may verify your child’s enrollment or waitlist status at anytime through our online application and enrollment system.

If your child has any special needs, we will follow up with you to ensure we have any additional information and existing plans to ensure we’re prepared to serve your child.

Your child will be given his or her teacher assignments close to the beginning of school.

School Calendar

As a charter school, Ascent Classical Academy manages its own calendar, while ensuring it meets state requirements for student contact days.  The 2021/2022 calendar is available on our website under the Current Families tab.

The first day of school will be September 7, 2021 and will conclude the Friday before Memorial Day, May 27, 2022.

Our holidays roughly mirror those of other Douglas County Schools though there are minor differences to note.

Uniforms

Part of our mission is to ensure a disciplined and orderly environment in which kids can learn.  Ascent Classical Academy has a uniform policy to help achieve this.  Detailed information about our uniforms is found on our uniform page.  All items with a logo must be ordered through Lands’ End, our uniform provider.  Other items, such as pants and white shirts may be purchased from local vendors as well.

Teachers and Staff

Teachers and staff will report on August 23 and begin intensive training led by Hillsdale College and the Barney Charter School Initiative.

Volunteer

We always appreciate parent help with organizing events. Please contact the office if you would like to volunteer to support the school.
