After School Care

After School Program Mondays – Thursdays

Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction offers an aftercare program from 3:30-5:30 p.m Monday through Thursday during school days. This is a fee-based program that is offered to families as a benefit and service to the community. The cost of the program will cover a student snack, supplies, hourly rate for aftercare employees, and other expenses to run the program. We do our best to keep fees low while also providing an important service to our community.

Aftercare will be offered for grammar school (K-6) students M – Th, from 3:30-5:30 PM beginning Wednesday, August 19th (the first day of school for Grammar School). The daily rate is $15/day, with a family max of $45/day. Students are welcome to attend as many days as they need, but we ask that you indicate the expected days below to ensure we have the appropriate staffing. During Aftercare, students will be supervised by our trained staff where they will uphold the same behavioral expectations that we have in the classroom. There will be a designated time for outside play and students will be provided a snack as well (please indicate any food allergies below). Below is a general schedule for Aftercare.

4:30-5:00 Outside play (weather permitting)
5:00-5:30 Read aloud, board games, activities, finish homework)

Friday Enrichment

Friday Enrichment will be offered for Grammar School (K-6) students on Fridays from 12:30-5:30 PM beginning Friday, August 21st. The rate for this program is $30/day and includes lunch and a snack. The family max for Friday Enrichment is $90/day The focus of Friday Enrichment will be theme-based with enrichment activities that will include exploration, experimentation, arts, and more. Based on numbers, we will be employing additional staff to help accommodate the need. This is a separate program from Aftercare and requires an additional registration. Students who do not indicate attendance for Friday Enrichment below will not be allowed to attend. 

Staffing – Aftercare and Friday Enrichment programs will be led by Ascent faculty. Additional faculty will be trained in all required operational protocols that ACAGJ faculty are trained in including first aid/CPR, mandatory reporting, and bloodborne pathogens to name a few. We may also have some of our own upper school students (16 years and older) assisting on Fridays with the same required training in order to meet the needs of our families.

Frequently Asked Questions

“Why are there two separate programs here?”

  • Due to our early release Fridays, Friday Enrichment was created to help serve families who need childcare for the remainder of the day.
  • Due to the additional resources needed, Friday Enrichment has a separate charge of $30/day. The program is similar to a day camp situation with enrichment activities that include exploration, experimentation, arts, and more. 
  • Lunch and a snack will be provided during Friday Enrichment.

“Can my student attend both programs?”

  • Yes, students can attend both Aftercare (M-Th) and Friday Enrichment (Fridays ONLY).
  • It is not necessary to specify what days your student will attend Aftercare, but it is highly recommended that you include the days that you plan on your student attending to ensure we have the appropriate staffing. 
  • Students MUST sign up for Friday Enrichment in order to attend.

“What if my student needs to attend tutoring?”

  • Students are welcome to attend Aftercare following their tutoring time.
  • Communication from parents regarding this would be appreciated. Parents can email the Dean of Grammar School, Mrs. Slate.

“What are the hours for Aftercare and the Friday Enrichment programs?”

  • Aftercare hours are 3:30-5:30 PM, Monday through Thursday.
  • Friday Enrichment hours are 12:30-5:30 PM.
  • A $10 late fee may be assessed each time a student is picked up 10 or more minutes late.

“What is the difference in cost between Aftercare and Friday Enrichment?”

  • Aftercare is offered Monday through Friday, 3:30-5:30 PM for a daily rate of $15/day.
  • Friday Enrichment is offered 12:30-5:30 PM at $30/day.
