Enrollment for Ascent Classical Academy Homeschool Enrichment
ACAGJ is excited to announce a Homeschool Enrichment Program starting in the 2027/28 school year. This program invites homeschool families in the Grand Valley to connect with a supportive academic community rooted in classical, liberal arts education. Designed for students K through 6th grade, this one-day-a- week program allows families to participate in classical education with high quality instruction and opportunities for social and academic engagement – while maintaining the freedom of homeschooling.
Join us for our information night Oct. 20 from 4:00-5:30pm at our main campus.
Training minds and improving hearts
The Homeschool Enrichment Program offered by Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction, a public charter school offering a classical, liberal arts education. Ascent Classical’s mission, vision, core virtues and curriculum are consistent in both our full-time and part-time programs.
Our goal is to partner with parents in developing students with strong character and virtue, while enriching their education. This program provides home educators with an academic community that seeks to “Learn the True, Do the Good, and Love the Beautiful.”
Students in Kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to join our one-day-a-week program designed to enrich home education through offering engaging classical enrichment classes that allow students an opportunity to learn alongside their peers.
Additionally, all homeschool enrichment students are permitted to participate in our full-time campus programs including extracurriculars (athletics, fine art, etc.) and school events.
Ascent Colorado Classical Schools are licensed users of the Hillsdale College K-12 curriculum. The Homeschool Enrichment Program is not endorsed by Hillsdale College. While both programs are intended to be compatible, the Homeschool Enrichment curriculum is composed of original content created by its faculty or derived from sources in the public domain. All of our homeschool enrichment faculty and staff participate in training with full-time program faculty and staff, and receive administrative support from the Ascent Classical Academy administration.
Once-A-Week Program (K-6)
Our Kindergarten through 6th grade students meet for one full school day during the week.
Proposed Time and Location:

Location: To Be Determined
Students will attend the following five classes:
Visual Arts
In this class, students will experience the world of art through the lens of different artists, their works, and their mediums. This well-rounded class will encourage both appreciation and application; blending of art appreciation, art history, and a hands-on art experience.
Classical Studies/Great Biographies
In this class, students will see history come alive as they learn about remarkable men and women who have made their mark on the pages of history. Students will read biographies and related literature to study the lives of scientists, reformers, early Americans, and other key figures throughout history.
Literature
In this class, our younger students (grades K-2) will listen to great stories and participate in supplementary activities that enrich the literature presented to them. Our older students (grades 3-6) will read the texts together and participate in discussions with their classmates to encourage deeper thought and understanding of each piece of literature.
Music/Performance
In this class, students will engage in music appreciation, music theory, the study of classical music, composer studies, and instrument studies, and engage musically through singing, rhythm, and instruments. This class will also introduce students to the art of speaking. Students will participate in short performances based on adaptations of classical literature and/or plays.
Nature Study
In this class, students will be invited to join in hands-on and highly interactive lessons focused on teaching the skill of observation to wonder about the natural world. This course will equip students with important science terms and concepts and teach them to create and keep a nature journal.
Have Questions?
In addition to our weekly program, our students are permitted to participate in all extracurricular activities that our traditional school program offers. This includes athletics, fine arts, music, clubs, and all-school events at our full-time campus.
